A Play-by-Play (or close to it) of our gaming session

This is the play by play of the previously posted story mode.
This is a game we’d had for a while but hadn’t played. Since I’m a big fan of Arthurian legend, I decided it was time to try it.
For the first game we decided not to use any of the special character cards.

Cast of Characters:

  • Space Cat – Assassin
  • Chubby Unicorn – Minion of Mordred
  • Clumsy Ninja – Merlin
  • Professor, Shutter, and President Gamer – Loyal Servants of Arthur

Since I had suggested the game, I had the Leader token first. I chose Space Cat and The Professor for the quest. Clumsy Ninja was the only one who rejected the proposed team, and when she was asked why, she replied, “Reasons.” This immediately tipped me off that she was Merlin, so I wasn’t as concerned with making quests fail. Despite the first quest failing, the Loyal Servants of Arthur quickly succeeded at three quests.

Space Cat (Father Michael) was bait.

Space Cat gave an action to Clumsy Ninja (Sandra), and she got into the van.

The Professor (David) moved to arc 5, so Chubby Unicorn (Julie) drove over there.

Clumsy Ninja shot from the van and killed a zombie.

Shutter (Ray) moved to the van and President Gamer made it to the clearing in arc 5.

The event Gun Jam did nothing because no one had any shots left.

The Professor damaged one zombie and killed another.

Shutter (Ray) was bait.

President Gamer (Al) killed another zombie.

Space Cat (Father Michael) used the radio to call the van and gave an action to Chubby Unicorn (Julie).

The Professor (David) moved outside.

Chubby Unicorn moved outside and, using the free action plus Nutrition Bar, maked it into the van.

Clumsy Ninja moved back outside and killed a zombie.

The event was Rush.

President Gamer killed four more zombies and damaged another.

The Professor killed two zombies.

Clumsy Ninja engaged in melee combat and took a damage.

Chubby Unicorn (Julie) was bait.

By this point in the game it seemed wise for some players to move outside the cabin to draw the zombies away from the missing wall in our cabin. President Gamer (Al) and Clumsy Ninja (Sandra) ventured forth to deal some damage. As long as they were within a zombie’s line of sight, the zombies would move towards them instead of towards the cabin. Clumsy Ninja killed a zombie in a melee fight.

Space Cat (Father Michael) moved back into the cabin, and gave a free action to the Professor (David) who also used the Energy Drink to snag the last radio piece.

Our event was Rotten Wood. The Professor was the only one to lose a club.

Clumsy Ninja and President Gamer killed zombies in melee combat. The Professor killed a zombie, and Chubby Unicorn damaged one.

The Professor (David) was bait.

Space Cat (Father Michael) was able to get another radio piece. The Professor used his shotgun to kill two zombies, and Chubby Unicorn (Julie) killed a brawler with the elephant gun.

The Event this time was Looters. The Professor, Shutter (Ray), and President Gamer (Al) all discarded cards.

The second survivor made it into the cabin, but we also lost a wall.

Dead Panic 3The Professor killed two more zombies, Chubby Unicorn killed two more, and President Gamer killed a brute and damaged another zombie.

Because of the attracted by gunfire event of the previous round, Space Cat (Father Michael) was still bait.

Space Cat was able to pick up the radio piece left behind in a single turn by using the Trail Mix card. Meanwhile President Gamer (Al) found a zombie in the cabin (Graaaaagh!).

We drew the event Panic and everyone moved 1 space clockwise.

Dead Panic 2We then drew the last survivor (he killed two zombies and then died), so we just needed to get all the radio pieces. A Sprinter cracked a wall. Space Cat damaged a brute, the Professor (David) killed a zombie with his favorite weapon (crossbow), and Clumsy Ninja (Sandra) killed two. Shutter (Ray) tried to fight the brawler (from Graaaaagh!), but rolled a 6 and took damage.

Space Cat began and was bait. As usual with the first round, everyone took Cabin cards. There’s not much else to do, and it’s the only place to get weapons.

Since the zombies are typically too far out to hit during the first perform actions phase, the Event card didn’t really do much. We drew Attracted by Gunfire, but no one had fired a gun.

We also got lucky with our first zombie draw. We drew two survivors. These tokens carry the radio pieces we need.
Unfortunately one of them died immediately in a fight with a zombie (thereby becoming a zombie) which meant we’d have to venture out of the cabin for that radio piece. The bright side was that he took three zombies with him, and the other survivor managed to kill one zombie.

We then moved the zombies, and a few were in range of our weapons.
Space Cat killed one, Chubby Unicorn one, Clumsy Ninja two and wounded another.

Dead Panic 1No zombies were in range for the Professor, Shutter, or President Gamer.
